Happy 1st Birthday Corbin!!!

It's actually here baby boy- your 1st birthday and I couldn't be more excited! I can't help but think about what we were doing this time last year. I had laid in a labor bed (which are the most uncomfortable things on the planet) for two days straight. You were doing great-heartrate was good, you were tolerating labor well, but you just weren't moving down and I wasn't dilating. So it was my pleasure to meet you in the O.R. after my cesarean section. Although it wasn't how I had pictured it, it didn't matter once I saw your face. I was in love and I didn't care that I had to have surgery to see you. You were worth every bit of it and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Ok, enough about last year-let's talk about July 4, 2010!

Let's set the scene-we went to mamaw and pappaw's to celebrate at the Odon Park. Your cousins-Keagan, Hope and Haddie, Uncle Dennis and Aunt Shelby, Kurt , Jenny and Maric, Sue and mamaw and pappaw were all in attendence. Your pappaw grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Your dad and I decorated the park shelter with balloons and everything Red, White & Blue!!! The weather was really great for the 4th of July-sunny and breezy! We had alot of fun watching you open presents (well-to be honest, I opened the presents for you-you were not in the mood!) But you were, however, in the mood to eat cake! Which was highly entertaining for us.

I just want you to always know that you bring more joy to you mama and daddy than you will ever know. We love you, we pray God's blessing over your life and we can't wait to experience another year with you, buddy.

Last weekend we had Indy Photography take Corbins' 1 year photos. They turned out sweet-even though he wasn't really in the mood to smile. :)

11 months and counting.......:)

Last night, (6/8/10), you started to walk through the living room like you owned the place! You've been "dabbling" in walking for about 1 month now, but last night, my love, you took off!! You have such great balance and totally walked like you had been walking all of your life. It was so awesome to watch and you were soooo proud of yourself! You love the all the cheers and applause you get when you reach your destination. How on earth did you get so big! I'm grateful for every single minute I get to spend with you. Your smile and laugh is so contagious! You make me soooo proud!

Lately, you have a new love-the GRASS! You are hilarious and you crawl at record speeds everywhere in it. Its pretty entertaining. You try to pick up, tear it up, and eat it up. Luckily, for you, your parents intecept the latter. :) It is so fun to see the world through your eyes young man. Your mommy and daddy LOVE YOU!!!

He's 10 months old, folks!

The days of the "sitting" picture are over, I'm afraid!! :)

Life with a 10 month old might be my favorite thing ever! Corbin is so full of smiles, laughter and just plain excitement! Everything is so new and fun for him and its so cool to be able to see everything through his little eyes.

Lately, he's been trying to walk. At the beginning of the month he was still pretty apprenhensive about it. But now, its on! He will try to walk no matter if he is cracking up and totally falling the whole time. He doesn't wait until he has his balance, he just pulls up and off he goes, usually about 3-4 steps. But tonight (5/28) he took the most steps Dean and I had seen to date! It was hilarious because he was just soo proud of himself! Not any prouder than his mama though!

We went to our favorite local Mexican restaurant the other night for dinner and he ate beans and rice with a side of guacamole! He loves it! He also loves to go out and people watch. He scans the room until he finds just the right older lady to flirt with and then he smiles and "carrys on" (like my grandma would say) until she can resist no more and comes over to get her hands on him! Its pretty funny! I can't say that I blame them!

So, without further adue, more pictures of the "boy-boy". Yes, that's his nickname.......we don't really know why or how it stuck, but we've called him that since we brought him home from the hospital. We weren't very original -we were sleep deprived! ;) Oh well, it works!

Counting my blessings..............

9 months old!

Well, better late than never, so here is the long awaited 9 month post on the happenings of

Mr. Corbin Dean

My baby boy is 9 months old, weighs 20 and 5/8 lbs and is busy busy busy. I say busy, but still cuddly! Which is my favorite part! He is such a cheerful, funny little guy that keeps us completely entertained. This month I have been working so many night shifts so daddy and Corbin have been spending some good quality time together.
Corbin, you are SO BLESSED to have such a wonderful daddy. He would do anything for you and loves you more than you'll ever know. I'm so glad that you get to have him for your role model, your comforter, your teacher,and most importantly, your "rocker-to-sleeper". :)

8 wonderful months in the life of Corbin

Hey gorgeous boy!! You are 8 months old now! Mommy is officially behind in updating your blog-so the date at the top isn't right, but you get the picture. :) You are sooooo busy these days my darling son! Lets review your new skills!

*You basically refuse to go to bed or to take naps when mamaw and papaw are around. This is you and mamaw watching American Idol and you can barely keep your eyes open. You don't want to miss one minute of mamaw time!! :) Of course, mamaw LOVES IT!!:)

* You love to play with mommy's cell phone!

*You're handsome, just like your daddy. This was one Sunday when you were still in your church clothes.

*This is you the very first time you stood up in your crib! As you can see, you were pretty proud of yourself! And so was mommy & daddy!

You also have 6 teeth, 2 out of the 4 are halfway through. You have your bottom 2, top 2 and 2 incisors on top. You have taken it very well! We have been so blessed that you have a high pain tolerance! Because man, those gums look sore!

You are such a happy guy and continue to be the joy of hearts! Your smile simply lights up your face and everyone in the room falls in love with you!

We love you and thank God for you everyday, sweet Corbin.

7 Months old! Are you kidding me?? :)

Dear sweet Corbin,

Why do you insist on growing up so fast? Your daddy and I cannot believe you are 7 months old already! You have had a big month so far! You are doing lots of new things, so let's review what your up to in your 7th month of life!

First things first, you're mobile! You started out about 3 weeks ago, doing yoga. Well, it looked like yoga, anyway. Specifically, the downward dog pose. You would get up on your hands and feet, head down and swing your little bootie from side to side! It was hysterical! Then you would swing to a sitting position, and reach your hands over to the other side of you and do it all over again. You could navigate through the whole living room with this maneuver!

(i tried to upload a video of this, but it is not working.....darn it-it is sooo funny! i'll continue to try and figure it out.)

BUT, on Saturday Feb. 13, you crawled for the very first time!! I mean really crawled! It was so cute and mammaw and pappaw were here to witness the blessed event! You've never looked more proud of yourself!

You love bathtime! You usually try to eat all of your bath toys. And you smell so yummy after your bath and we slather your delicious homemade baby lotion all over you. (compliments of Aunt Ashly-THANK YOU!!)

You sit up perfectly all by yourself!
You are eating really well these days. Fruits, veggies, yogurt and puffs that you can feed yourself. I would say about 1/3 of them end up in your mouth, with the rest of them in your highchair. But you don't seem to mind-you love feeding yourself like a big boy! Plus you have 2 TEETH on the bottom! You never even got fussy over it. You took it like a champ!! :)

You love to wiggle. You have this little wiggly dance you do, your head moves back and forth, while you shake your bottom in the opposite direction. Sorta hard to explain, but no worries, we have video of you doing this little dance for future harrassment!


You smile all the time! You laugh, especially at your parents, it seems! And there is nothing either of us enjoy more than acting silly and watching you "belly"laugh over it.



You also love to cuddle, which is my favorite too! I am relishing every little bit of cuddle time I can get because i bet there will be a day when it won't be the "cool" thing to do. SO I'm soaking as much in now as I possibly can!

You are sleeping in your own room and through the night! You are an awesome little sleeper! And for this, we are grateful!


You say "ba-ba" when you are hungry! Actually you started doing that around Christmas time, but I think I had forgotten to write it down. But you are very consistent with it! You are very smart! Talking at 6 months old is a big deal, little man!


You continue to be the joy of your mama's heart and I fall more in love with you everyday, even though I never think its possible to love you more than I do at any particular moment. Your name is first out of my mouth to thank God for each day and the last thought in my head as I drift off to sleep, praying for God's protection over you as we sleep. Your daddy and I couldn't have been blessed with a sweeter, more wonderful little boy.

Thank you Jesus for the amazing gift of little Corbin.
